I dreamt of you

last night,

during dead time

with Christ pressed firmly

to my chest.

I dreamt that I saw you

leaving your husband,

driving back

from whence you’d came,

leaving me

and escaping him.

I dreamt sorrow

and rage and

joy

at your act

and awoke with Christ’s companions

and the cold knowledge

that the cemetery was as far as you’d traveled.

This is a beautiful work, tragically sad, but beautiful none the less.
